Record Power supply on Dhanteras in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Bumper power supply was ensured in the state on Dhanteras. Through effective management and ensuring better networks, the power distribution companies of Madhya Pradesh has set a new record of supply of 9412 MW power in the night of November 11. Maximum peak hour demand of 9412 MW power was met at 7.30 pm on November 11. It is noteworthy that 7422 MW power was supplied during peak hours on Dhanteras in year 2011. On Dhanteras this year, power was not cut in any part of the state after 6 pm. This record power supply could be ensured through effective coordination among State Load Dispatch Centre, Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company, Madhya Pradesh Generating Company and Eastern, Central and Western Power distribution Companies in the state.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla, Secretary Energy Shri Mohammad Sulaiman, Power Management Company MD Shri Manu Shrivastava and the companies’ Managing Directors congratulated the concerning officers and employees in the state for this historic achievement. They hoped that power will be supplied in the same manner on the occasion of Deepawali also.
Power Management Company MD Shri Manu Shrivastava informed that of the 9412 MW power, 2082 MW power was supplied by Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company’s thermal power plants, 754 MW by hydel plant, 2356 MW by National Thermal Power Plant (Central Sector), 989 MW by Indira Sagar, 379 MW from Omkareshwar, 650 MW from Sardar Sarovar hydel power plant, 394 from Damodar Valley Corporation, 160 MW from J.P. Bina and 32 MW power was supplied by Torrent Company. Remaining supply of 1218 MW power was made through medium-short term purchase and banking. Besides, 398 MW power was also obtained from other sources. During the period, 1000 MW power drawn through banking in monsoon season was also returned.
