Results of 14th Vidhan Sabha election of Madhya Pradesh today

Bhopal: Time has arrived to decide fate of all 2583 candidates for 14th Vidhan Sabha in Madhya Pradesh. Counting of postal ballots and EVM votes will start on Sunday, December 8 from 8 am. Apart from administrative arrangements, strict security arrangements have also been made at all counting centres. Results will also be declared on December 8.

Counting of votes polled in 230 Vidhan Sabha constituencies in the state will be done in 324 halls. Votes of 138 assembly constituencies will be counted at counting venues which have only one hall, 90 constituencies at counting centres with 2 hall and votes of 3 constituencies will be counted at counting venues in 3 halls. As many as 3255 tables will be set up for EVM vote counting and 500 tables for postal ballots. About 20 thousand employees will be deputed at 51 counting centres. These include 230 ROs, 460 AROs for EVM vote counting, 500 AROs for counting of postal ballots, 4175-4175 micro observers, counting assistants and counting supervisors, 324 executive magistrates, 230 IT employees (150 reserved) and 5 thousand other officers and employees.
There are 3 Vidhan Sabha constituencies whose votes will be counted in 23 rounds. These include 103-Shahpura, 117-Lakhnadaun and 133-Bhainsdehi. Votes of Vidhan Sabha constituency number 86 Kotma will be counted in minimum 12 rounds. A state level control room has been set up at CEO office and media centres at every counting venue.
Process of filing nomination papers had begun in Madhya Pradesh with declaration of notification on November 1, which concluded on November 8. Nomination papers were scrutinised on November 9 and withdrawn till November 11. After this date, 2583 candidates remained in the poll fray in 230 Vidhan Sabha constituencies in the state including BJP 230, Indian National Congress 229, Bahujan Samaj Party 227, Nationalist Congress Party 72, Communist Party of India 23, Communist Party of India (Marxist) 8, Samajwadi Party has fielded 164 candidates, Bahujan Sangharsh Party 64, Gondwana Ganatantra Party 63, Bharatiya Lok Shakti Chetna Party 52, Akhil Bharatiya Gondwana Party 31, Lok Janshakti Party 28, Shiv Sena 26, Rashtriya Samanta Dal 24, Janata Dal (United) 22, Apna Dal 21, Samta Samadhan Party 17, Rashtriya Parivartan Dal 14, National People’s Party 13, Republican Party of India (A) 11, Arthik Samanta Party 10, Prajatantrik Samadhan Party, Hindustan Janata Party, All-India Forward Block, National People’s Party and Mahan Dal 9 each, Jan Nyay Dal and Rashtriya Apna Dal 8 each, Gondwana Mukti Sena 7, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party 6, Samta Party and Bharatiya Bahujan Party 5 each, Samajwadi Jan Parishad, Republican Party, Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) and Janata Dal (Secular) 4 each, National Loktantrik Party, Social Democratic Party of India, Minorities Democratic Party and Sawarn Samaj Party 3 each, Kisan Mazdoor Party, Pragatisheel Manav Samaj Party, Indian Union Muslim League and Madhya Pradesh Nav Nirman Sena 2 each and one candidate each has been fielded by Rashtriya Kisan Vikas Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation), Bharatiya Minorities Suraksha Mahasangh, Republican Party of India (Khobaragade), Indian Justice Party, Sarve Bhavantu Shukheena Party, Mahanwadi Party, Bharatiya Rashtriya Mazdoor Dal, Revolutionary Socialist Party of India (M), Rashtriya Bahujan Congress Party, Inqilab Vikas Dal, Bundelkhand Congress, Jai Manavta Party, Ambedkar Samaj Party, Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha, Bahujan Sangharsh Party (Kanshiram), Socialist Party (India), Rashtriya Krantikari Samajwadi Party, Revolutionary Socialist Party, Rahbar Party, Narayani Sena and People’s Republican Party and 1092 independent candidates.
All is set for counting at district headquarters. Seven tables each will be placed in the halls in which counting will be held in 2 phases and 14 tables where counting will be done in one hall. Postal ballots will be taken up for counting first of all at 8 am. Their counting will be completed till 8.30 am in 5 rounds. If their counting takes more time then postal ballots will be counted simultaneously with EVM votes. Counting for last round of EVM votes will not be started till counting of postal ballots is finalised. Before counting of votes, returning officers will give information about rules for maintaining secrecy. Adequate security arrangements will be made at district headquarters during counting.
A transparent, impartial and independent policy has been framed for simultaneous counting of votes of all 230 Vidhan Sabha constituencies. Better and foolproof arrangements are being made in all districts to prevent any error by government machinery which might lead to some accusations.
Random selection of staff will be made for counting of votes to ensure impartiality in the task. Due to randomisation, no employee will be able to know till last time as to which table will be assigned to him. Vidhan Sabha-wise randomisation will be done by district election officers in the presence of observers 24 hours before counting. Following this, appointment letters for concerning constituencies will be issued to returning officers. The returning officers will randomly select tables for counting supervisors/ counting assistants and micro observers in the presence of observers at 5 am on the day of counting.
Postal ballots: Postal ballots will also be counted during counting of votes for Vidhan Sabha election. Postal ballots must reach concerning returning officers positively before 8 am on December 8. except official video-graphy any other cameras or video-cameras will be prohibited during this process. Journalists and media will not be allowed to set up any camera stand in the counting halls. Camera will be held in hands only by the persons whom the commission will issue passes. Besides, filming of actual number of votes in any EVM will be prohibited from video-cameras held in hand or mounted on shoulder.
