Road construction completed at Naxal affected Balaghat District

Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Government is constructing and upgrading six roads in Naxal-affected Balaghat District. Work of one of the six roads has been completed, three are in progress, while proposal of one road is pending with the union Government for revised administrative sanction.

Construction of 236.95 kilometer roads at a cost of Rs. 196 crore 15 lakh 90 thousand has been sanctioned under LWI Scheme for the district. So far, 68.90 kilometer roads have been built utilising Rs. 53 crore 63 lakh 91 thousand out of Rs. 96 crore 55 lakh 64 thousand. Baihar-Saletekri-Gandai Road measuring 13.20 KM has been completed at a cost of Rs. 10 crore 13 lakh five thousand and 20.70 KM long Garhi-Motinala Road at a cost of Rs. 14 crore 15 lakh 57 thousand.

A sum of Rs. 21 crore 16 lakh 20 thousand has been spent on the construction of 35 KM long Baihar-Parsawara-Lamta Road, Rs. four crore 15 lakh 96 thousand on Baihar-Topla-Supkhar-Chilpi Road and Rs. four crore three lakh 13 thousand on Parastola-Jatta-Mohgaon Road.

Meanwhile, proposals for revised administrative sanction are pending for approval with the Union Government for construction of 59.20 KM long Lanji to Saletekri Road and 34 KM long Lanji-Durg Road.

Second tender has been called separately in February 2012 for construction of Baihar-Paraswara-Lamta Road and bridge on Parastola-Jatta-Mohgaon Road at a cost of Rs. 15 crore 94 lakh 16 thousand.

Madhya Pradesh is among eight pioneering states of the country vis-à-vis completion of public utility development works in Naxal-affected areas. Large number of all-weather pucca roads, structures for power, water and Anganwadi buildings are being constructed at a rapid pace in the state under Integrated Action Plan. Quality of these works has been ensured through constant monitoring.
