Rs. 100 crore for “Scheme for Special Infrastructure” in Balaghat and Singrauli

Bhopal. A sum of Rs. 100 crore for ‘Scheme for Special Infrastructure’ is needed in Balaghat and Singrauli. This proposal was given by Home and Jails Minister Shri Babulal Gaur to Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh in New Delhi today. The works to be undertaken using this amount under SIS Scheme include construction of new roads, establishment of mobile towers and setting up and upgrading police chowkies. These works will smoothen security forces’ movement and communication.

Shri Gaur said that earlier these districts were Naxal-affected and used to get Central grant. Basic infrastructure development has to be ensured in these districts for which Rs. 100 crore is needed, he added.

Shri Gaur said that Balaghat and Singrauli adjoin Naxal-affected districts of neighbouring states and reports about movement of Naxalites keep coming from there. Under such circumstances, Government of India was urged to constitute 2 battalions of Rakshit Vahini there. Of these, additional Raskshit Vahini for Balaghat district was sanctioned in year 2014. It is being constituted. He urged the Home Minister to sanction another Rakshit Vahini for Singrauli district.

Shri Gaur urged that entire expenses on deployment of Central security forces in the state should be borne by the Centre. Demand of Rs. 226 crore is proposed for expenses of CRPF’s deployment in the state since year 2007. He said that this amount should be written off and in future also the state should be exempted from expenses on deployment of CRPF in Naxal-affected areas. Shri Guar urged to continue SIS in view of Naxalite problem in states’ districts adjoining neighbouring Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand states.
