Rs. 275 crore power subsidy to farmers of Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today decided to give subsidy worth Rs. 275 crore to provide cushion to farmers against the impact of power tariff hike made by Electricity Regulatory Commission. Presently, Rs. 1925 crore subsidy is being given to farmers. With this decision, the total subsidy has gone up to Rs. 2200 crore.
Subsidy at the rate of 90 paise per unit will be given to consumers of upto 30 units per month consumption (upto 100 watt connection load) and 125 paise per unit to powerloom consumers upto 25 horsepower. The tariff will be charged from these consumers on the basis of actual consumption.
Subsidy at the rate of 290 paise per units upto only 25 units will be given to SC, ST BPL consumers.
Subsidy at the rate of 95 paise per kilowatt will be given on fixed monthly charge for low-tension streetlight schemes of municipal corporations and municipalities. High-tension lift irrigation group irrigation schemes will be given exemption from minimum annual charge and provided subsidy at the rate of 190 paise per unit.
Upper age limit for direct recruitments increased: The cabinet decided to increase upper age limit for direct recruitments in government services from 35 to 40 years permanently. The upper age limit will be 45 years for SC, ST, OBC, government servants, employees of corporations, boards, commissions and autonomous bodies, home guards and women. This upper age limit will not be applicable to executive posts of Home (Police), Forest, Excise and Jail departments. The cabinet decided to extend the last date November 4, by 15 days for entertaining application exam of Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Daily wagers: The cabinet decided to increase upper age limit by two years for allowing employees recruited as daily wagers to continue in service. Now, class-III daily wagers can continue in service till the age of 60 years and class-IV daily wagers upto 62 years of age.
The cabinet decided to increase the retirement age of workers of company cadre of Madhya Pradesh Eastern Region Power Distribution Company from 58 to 60 years. Besides, as per company’s proposal, the cabinet endorsed to give option of accepting 60 years as retirement age to class-1, II and III employees of Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board whose services have been finally merged with the Eastern Region Power Distribution Company.
Sanctions: The cabinet sanctioned 21 proposed schemes of the Scheduled Castes Welfare Department under the 12th Five-Year Plan. The total cost of the schemes is Rs. 5,343 crore 90 lakh. These schemes include Kanya Protsahan Yojna, scholarships, stipends, residential schools, centres for excellence in education, renovation of hostel and ashram buildings, construction of hostel and ashram buildings, subsidy to voluntary organisations, development of schedule caste habitats, electrification of Majra-Tola, establishment of special courts etc.
The cabinet gave administrative sanction of Rs. 114 crore 75 lakh to Shyamri medium multipurpose project of Chhatarpur district. Besides supply water to the proposed power project of NTPC, this project in Bijawar tahsil will irrigate 750 hectare.
The cabinet gave administrative sanction of Rs. 358 crore 99 lakh for Majhgaon medium multipurpose project in Panna district. It was decided to supply 40 million cubit meter water to NTPC on the condition that it will bear 50 percent cost of top works of the project. After completion, the project will irrigate 9700 hectare benefiting 35 villages in Ajaigarh tahsil.
The cabinet gave revised sanction of Rs. 2033 crore 92 lakh for the second phase of Sindh project in Shivpuri district.
With a view to removing problems cropping up in redensification scheme chalked out by Gwalior Development Authority, the cabinet decided to exempt it from previous directives. This decision will pave way for construction of Madhav Plaza commercial complex and buildings of Veterinary Department at Gwalior.
The cabinet gave sanction to construction works worth Rs. 4 crore 34 lakh 68 thousand for upgradation of T.B. and chest department in Jabalpur Medical College, purchase of equipment worth Rs. one crore 13 lakh 75 thousand and creation of seven new posts. This will help provide more effective treatment facility to patients.
