Seizure of illegal liquor begins in districts

Bhopal: Illegal distribution and sale of liquor has been strictly banned in Madhya Pradesh in view of Lok Sabha elections. Since announcement of elections, 428 litre liquor has been seized and action taken against 17 persons in Gwalior district, 136 litre liquor and action against 5 persons in 5 cases in Jabalpur and 267 litre liquor and action against 3 persons in 2 cases in Satna district.

On March 9 last, excise staff conducted 207 raids, seized 647 litre liquor from various places and arrested 83 persons in 116 cases. Similarly, 23 litre IMFL was seized during 205 raids and 19 persons were arrested.
