Shame Shame, Cry Congressmen in RS over “Virginity Test”
Over “virginity test” of girls in Shahdol district to avail benefits of Mukhya Mantri Kanyadan Yojana, Congress and BJP members indulged in a clash in the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
During Zero Hour, when Santosh Bagrodia, Congress, broached upon the issue of virginity test by Madhya Pradesh government on June 26 when 151 girls were to be married under the aforementioned scheme, the BJP members went up on their feet.
Bagrodia, though complementing the state government for the scheme, said that it was unfortunate that girls were asked to undergo “test for virginity” before their marriage, amidst “shame, shame” screams from other Congressmen.
However, several BJP Members raised objection to the issue being raised in the House based on newspaper reports despite the denial by the state government.
