Survey teams should assess crop loss with honesty and sensitiveness: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed all divisional commissioners and district collectors to ensure that survey teams assess crop loss due to excessive rains with honesty and sensitiveness. He assured farmers that government stands by them in their hour of crisis and they will be given every possible assistance. CM Shri Chouhan visited village Bamlabe Jod in Biaora tahsil of Rajgarh district today and interacted with affected farmers.

Commerce & Industries Minister Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Zila Panchayat Chairperson Smt. Sumitra Bhilala, MP Shri Narayan Singh Amlabe and local MLAs were present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister visited affected fields in areas around village Bamlabe Jod. Later, addressing farmers, he said that state government has set aside Rs. 2000 crore to deal with calamity of hailstorm. More funds will be allocated if required. The Chief Minister directed commissioners and collectors to accelerate pace of crop loss survey. He said that relief amounts should be distributed soon after completion of survey.

The Chief Minister informed farmers that they will be given compensation for 100 percent crops loss for over 50 percent loss. He said that compensation will also be given against loss to crops of garlic and orange. Shri Chouhan informed that Rs. 500 per tree compensation will be given on loss of orange tree and Rs. 400 per tree on 50 percent loss. He said that Rs. 25 thousand each will be given for marriage of daughters of farmers who have suffered 50 percent loss. State government will also pay interest on loans taken by farmers so that they can avail loans at zero percent interest for next crop.

The Chief Minister said that apart from compensation, farmers will be given benefit of crop insurance through crop cutting experience. Shri Chouhan directed officers and employees not to be indifferent in providing relief to farmers in their hour of crisis. Relief should be provided to all affected farmers with honesty and sensitiveness. He said that 10 percent DA will be given to officers and employees. Government will look after them and they should look after farmers.
