Survey to find out reason for decline in admissions in engineering colleges
Bhopal: survey should be conducted to find out the reason for decline in admissions in engineering colleges. This was directed by Higher and Technical Education Minister Shri Umashankar Gupta during inspection of counselling centre. He also inspected state project facilitation centre unit and office of Admission & Fee Regulatory Committee here today.
Shri Gupta directed for proper use of staff and space. He said that some more responsibilities should be entrusted to the staff of state project facilitation centre unit and counselling centre. He said that career counselling centre can also be established in the same building. Shri Gupta directed to ensure cleanliness and whitewashing of entire building.
State quality improvement programme to be chalked out: State quality improvement programme will be chalked out for improving quality of technical education institutes in the state. He said that this responsibility should be entrusted to state project facilitation centre unit. Shri Gupta directed to prepare norms for this and implemented in all institutions in phases.
Complaint must be online: Shri Gupta said that online facility should also be started for registering complaints in Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee. He said that this will facilitate students of remote areas. The Minister said that members of the committee should undertake regular visits to institutions and cross-examine disposal of complaints. Shri Gupta said that information about every drop out of institution should be posted on the website. He said that original marksheets and other documents should not be got deposited from students. It should be ensured that no institution charges more fee than prescribed by the committee. Chairman of the Committee Shri T.R. Thapak informed that the committee has prescribed fee for 1653 courses.
Shri Gupta also held discussions with regional officers of AICTE including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat states. Director Technical Education Shri Ashish Dongare and other officers were also present on the occasion.
