Survey work in hailstorm affected districts commence in MP
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the state government is standing with the farmers in the crisis caused by hailstorm.
He said survey work has been started in the hailstorm affected districts.
After completing the survey work in a week, immediate relief will be provided to the farmers. Joint teams of Revenue, Agriculture and Panchayat and Rural Development departments have been formed for the survey.
There should be no negligence in the survey, the survey should be done with honesty and sensitivity and every affected farmer should get relief, special care should be taken that no farmer’s field is left out of the survey.
Chouhan gave these instructions in the meeting held at the residence office. Principal Secretary Revenue Manish Rastogi along with officials of Revenue Department were present. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains joined virtually.
Farmers will also get the benefit of crop insurance scheme along with the relief amount
Chouhan said along with the survey, the list of affected farmers and losses suffered by them should be posted in the panchayats.
He said after resolving the objections received from the farmers, the loss should be assessed with full sensitivity and transparency.
He said along with the relief amount, farmers will be provided the benefit of crop insurance scheme on the basis of crop cutting experiment done with updated technology.
Parallel to the survey, necessary action should be taken for crop insurance scheme to compensate the farmers for the loss in time, he said.
Due to this, the amount of immediate relief given in RBC 6-4 and the crop insurance scheme will be available to the farmers. In addition to loss of crops, relief will be provided commensurate with the enhanced amount for cattle loss, he said.
Preliminary information about crop getting affected in 520 villages of 51 tehsils
It was told that in 520 villages of 51 tehsils of the affected districts, preliminary information has been received that crops on 33 thousand 758 hectares of 38 thousand 900 farmers have been affected.
In 12 districts of the state, 22 people have died due to lightning.
The Meteorological Department had issued a warning of lightning and rain with hailstorm, thunderstorm and strong winds in all the divisions of the state from March 16 to 19.
Rainfall was recorded on March 17 and 18 in the districts of Narmadapuram, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Chambal, Ujjain, Sagar, Indore, Gwalior, Rewa and Bhopal divisions.
Rainfall was recorded on March 19 in Mandla, Balaghat, Narmadapuram, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Katni, Seoni and Shahdol districts.
Information about untimely rain and hailstorm has been received in total 20 districts.
