Technical enquiry to be conducted into overhead tank mishap
Bhopal: A four-member committee headed by Engineer-in-Chief of Public Health Engineering Department will conduct a technical enquiry into overhead tank mishap that occurred at Sai Baba Nagar here in the intervening night of November 18 and 19. Members of the committee constituted by the state Government will include Chief Engineer Urban Administration & Development, Chief Engineer Public Works Department and Chief Engineer of Chambal-Betwa Basin under the Water Resources Department, Bhopal. Following will be the terms of reference of the committee.
1. What are reasons behind the incident/accident?
2. What precautions should be taken to prevent recurrence of such accidents?
3. Residential and other habitations should be at what distance from overhead tanks constructed under drinking water schemes.
4. Besides conducting enquiry into the reasons behind the accident, the enquiry committee will also present guidelines for monitoring during construction of overhead tanks under drinking water schemes, post-construction maintenance and precautions to be exercised, inspection and supervision following expiry of general durability of construction.
The enquiry committee will submit its report on these subjects/point to the government within 30 days.
