Tigers hunted an elephant in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve Umaria. The dead body of this 2-year-old elephant was found at 11 am on Monday. This dead body was found in Beat Chitraon Barwah Muda of Forest Zone Panpatha Corps. Deep marks of tiger teeth and nails were found on the neck of the body, while the rear part was largely missing.

According to Rajeev Mishra, Area Director of Bandhavgarh, this is probably the first case of an elephant being killed and eaten by a tiger in Madhya Pradesh. The elephant was dragged away. There were also marks of struggle with his tiger. Veterinary Dr. Nitin Gupta, who did the postmortem of the dead body, told that this is a rare to rarest case. At least 3 tigers have hunted the elephant together. After hunting, a tiger sat there for about an hour. The guards have confirmed this.

The age of the elephant is 2 years, while the length is 134 cm. Earlier such an incident had happened in Karnataka, but no incident of a tiger attack on an elephant herd was ever recorded. Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve has the highest number of tigers out of 6 Tiger Reserves of Madhya Pradesh. The tigers here also live in human settlements.
