Two cities selected for development, Rs 200 crore would be spent on Budni while Rs 300 crore on Khurai
Under the Integrated Development Plan (IDP), two small towns of Madhya Pradesh are being prepared for development by taking loan from Asian Development Bank, one is the Budni area of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the other is Khurai area of Urban Development Minister Bhupendra Singh.
Rs 200 crore will be spent in Budni and Rs 300 crore in Khurai. Since the Urban Development Department of the government had the right to select the cities. Hence, both of them were selected for the first phase. Later the number of Chitrakoot and Nasrullaganj will come. The hallmark of the selection of cities for overall development is also very interesting. IDP is old scheme.
In 2019-20, when it came to the selection of cities during the Kamal Nath government, the then Urban Development Minister Jayawardhan Singh had selected his constituency Radhogarh and the then Chief Minister Kamal Nath had selected Betul. Sukhdev Panse, close to Kamal Nath from Betul, was the PHE minister. However, the process of tendering of roads and buildings has started to start the development work in the newly selected cities.
The remaining work will be done under the MP Urban Development Company. Rest of the page 5 ADB’s expert team has recently completed the survey work. Short, medium and long term projects will be made in Budni and Khurai. The target is to complete the work in two years.
River front will be built with housing, solar plants will also be installed
Due to textile work in Budni, 15,000 houses will be built for labour. River front will be developed for tourism. There are possibilities of agriculture in Khurai, so there will be housing projects here as well. There will be beautification of the banks of the pond. Solar plants of 4 MW each will be set up in Khurai and Budni. Possibilities of CNG plant will also be seen.
70% money will be taken from the treasury of the state government
The math of money in IDP is such that out of 500 crores, 70% of the amount will go from the state government’s coffers. Means 350 crore rupees. The remaining 30% money will be taken as loan from ADB. The state government will pay 75% of this loan amount and the remaining 25% will have to be given to the urban body. It is clear that the state government is giving most of the money.
The CNG plant will be given on PPP.There will be provisions to lease the river front for tourism.
Solar plants will pave the way for savings. Urban bodies will levy tax after the drainage system of road, sewerage and water.
