Unable to Bear Humiliation, Trauma, Rape Victim Ends Life in Jabalpur

Jabalpur police have arrested a 55-year-old man on rape charges, the victim had named him in her dying declaration to doctors who were treating her after she consumed a poisonous substance to end her life.
The victim, a 22-year-old school teacher, ended her life as she was unable to bear the humiliation and trauma from the sexual assault that took place on Saturday.
The accused, Omkar Patel, accosted the young teacher when she was on her way home from work on Saturday evening. He threatened her with a knife and warned her with dire consequences if she spoke of the assault to anyone. He went on to outrage her modesty.
The girl consumed a poisonous substance and breathed her last at a government hospital late on Sunday night. She had revealed details of the horrific incident to attending doctors at the ICU as part of medico-legal protocols.
