Untimely weather destroyed 1.5 lakh hectare crop in 3800 villages of MP

In March, the weather conditions turned abrupt destroying  crops in the fields. The farmers have incured maasive losses,  Wheat, gram, mustard crops have suffered the most. The crops of orange, garlic, coriander, lentils, isabgol, linseed have also been affected.

The government is conducting a survey in two phases on the effects of the weather on the farmers of Madhya Pradesh. In the first phase, between March 6 and 9, due to storm, water and hailstorm, information has come to the fore that crops of 1.09 lakh farmers in 1.25 lakh hectares were destroyed in 3280 villages of 16 districts. The bad weather between March 16 and 19 left no stone unturned. In the initial survey, loss is being considered in 27 districts. In the second phase, so far in the report, 38985 hectare crop of 33884 farmers in 525 villages of 19 districts has been damaged.

If we talk about the preliminary survey report of both the phases, crops of more than 1.5 lakh hectares have been damaged in more 3500 villages of Madhya Pradesh. In the initial survey, where there is hailstorm, 50 to 85% damage to the crops is being considered. In Vidisha, maximum 49883 hectares (45875 in the first phase survey, 4008 in the second phase) have been damaged. Maximum 38078 farmers (36073 in the first phase, 2005 in the second) have also been affected in Vidisha. In Mandsaur, the maximum damage is being considered in 819 villages. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has asked to complete the survey by March 25.

CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan took a meeting on Monday regarding the crops destroyed due to unseasonal rains, storm and hailstorm in the state. The CM said that there should be no negligence in the survey. Survey should be done with full honesty. Don’t make any mistake. Involve the staff of Revenue, Agriculture and Panchayat Development together in the survey. After completion of the survey, the list should be posted in the Panchayat office. If any farmer’s objection comes after the survey, then it should also be resolved. Crop loss will be compensated under RBC 6-4. Animal loss has also been reported, the Madhya Pradesh government will compensate for the loss of animal. The complete work of crop survey will be done by March 25.

A case of death of a farmer due to shock has come to light in Pahariya village of Silvani, Raisen. Tejram Lodhi told that it was raining heavily on Saturday evening. Hail was also falling. We have 8 acres of land. We had planted gram crop. Went to the farm around 3-4 pm. Made a video of fallen crops. When he came home, he showed the video to father Harprasad Lodhi. Seeing the failure of the crop of 8 acres, the father got tensed. We slept till 11 pm. In the morning when I got up to go to the farm, my father did not wake up. he died of shock
