Video conferencing upto block-level now
Bhopal. Video conferencing can now be held at development block-level also with the extension of Madhya Pradesh State Wide Area Network (SWAN). Through it, the Chief Minister will have direct dialogue with collectors, commissioners and block development level officers. At present, this facility is limited to district-level. This process has already started in some development blocks. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan had inaugurated videoconferencing at Janpad Panchayat-level in Khandwa district recently through this system.
Now, treasuries and sub-treasuries have been linked with SWAN. Earlier, they were linked with V-SAT. Its speed was low and cost higher. After linking with SWAN, its speed has accelerated and cost reduced. Besides, Commercial Taxes and Transport departments have also been linked with this system. Plan is afoot to connect all the departments with this network. It will make data communication easier and cheaper since every department will not have to avail this service separately.
Municipal Corporation work to be easier : Computerisation work in Bhopal Municipal Corporation is in progress. After success of pilot project in one zone, it is now being implemented in entire municipal corporation. This will be replicated in all the 70 wards next month.
Following this, property tax, water tax, birth & death certificates will be online. After Bhopal, this work will be extended to remaining municipal corporations in the state.
Under the project, all the development blocks and tahsil headquarters will be connected with district headquarters and district headquarters with state headquarters through optical fiber network. This will make transfer of data, voice, video and other communication easier between all the government offices in the state and citizens will also get various services easily.
