Work with spirit to provide liberal relief to farmers: CM
Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that he wishes to provide liberal relief to farmers in view of losses due to hailstorm. Officers should work with this spirit. The Chief Minister also directed to increase relief on loss to crops of spices and isabgol upto Rs. 26 thousand per hectare and provide compensation on loss of orange crop at the rate of per tree. Shri Chouhan was addressing a high-level meeting for providing relief to hailstorm-affected farmers at his residence here today. He directed for proper survey of crop loss. He said that orders regarding relief should be issued immediately so that there is clarity about distribution of relief in affected areas and the process can be started soon. Till late night, the Chief Minister held discussions with senior officers on various alternatives for giving relief and directed to issues necessary directives to all concerning departments.
The Chief Minister said that he had toured most of affected districts and held discussions with farmers. Shri Chouhan said that losses of farmers must be compensated at every cost. Government should adopt humanitarian approach to provide relief. He said that a farmer works very hard to grow crops. Under such circumstances, government will adopt fully liberal approach to compensate their losses.
Shri Chouhan said that farmers have full trust in the government. This trust will increase when people and government machinery will undertake survey of crop loss jointly. This will also minimize mistakes generally committed in distribution of relief. Shri Chouhan informed that farmers are satisfied with sensitive efforts of state government. He directed that claims and objections will be accepted after survey and any error in it will be immediately corrected. The meeting was informed that 2.50 lakh hectare area has suffered heavy loss affecting 2 lakh farmers. Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa and senior officers of concerning departments attended the meeting.
