Works for Kshipra link projects should be completed within time-limit: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that works under Kshipra Link Projects should be completed within time-limit. He directed to monitor works constantly. Shri Chouhan was chairing a meeting of Major Projects Control Board of the Water Resources Department here today.
Finance Minister Shri Raghavji, Water Resources Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya and Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram were also present at the meeting.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that irrigation projects’ water should reach farmers residing at tail-end of canals. He said that works should be carried out in such a way that preparations for Simhastha can be completed by the year 2015. Shri Chouhan also talked about availability of water to farmers and selection of crops as per season. He stressed the need for educating farmers in this regard. At the meeting, Shri Chouhan sought information about the Water Resources Department’s works towards irrigation and agriculture and preparations for Simhastha.
At the meeting, Principal Secretary Water Resources Shri R.S. Julaniya informed that this year, area under irrigation in the state is expected to be more than current area of 24 lakh hectares. He said that there are indications that irrigation facilities will be made available in total 25 lakh hectares this year. It was informed at the meeting that about 20 percent increase is expected in wheat production in the state this year. Work of laying Kshipra Link Project’s pipelines is expected to be completed by March this year.
Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture Shri M.M. Upadhyay, Principal Secretary New & Renewable Energy Shri S.R. Mohanty, Principal Secretary Narmada Valley Development Shri Rajneesh Vaish and other officers were present on the occasion.
