RIL Earns Prospecting Licenses in MP

Bhopal –  Granting prospecting licenses, the Madhya Pradesh government has paved the way for a Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) subsidiary to conduct diamond explorations in over 1800 square kms spread across the Rewa, Sidhi and Satna districts of the state, said an official release on Saturday.

Reliance, with plans to pump in some 1000 crore rupees in the prospecting work, is only the second private sector company to conduct diamond explorations in the state, the first being the Australian mining major, Rio Tinto.

Apart from diamonds, the licenses include permissions for other minerals like gold, copper, lead, zinc and silver.

The licenses were issued in two parts, one for an area of 1084 square kms and the other covering 735 square kms.
