IPL-16 playoff matches will be held in Chennai-Ahmedabad: first qualifier on 23 May, 2nd qualifier on 26.
The dates and venues for the playoff matches of the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been fixed. IPL gave this information on its official website. There will be a total of 4 matches including qualifiers, eliminators and finals in Chennai and Ahmedabad. Both the cities have been given 2-2 matches.
Playoff matches will be held from May 23. There are a total of 4 playoff matches in IPL. Qualifier-1 between the top-2 teams of the points table, Eliminator match between the third and fourth number teams. The team that wins Qualifier-1 will reach the final and the losing team will play Qualifier-2. The team that wins the Eliminator will advance to Qualifier-2. The team that wins Qualifier-2 plays the winner of Qualifier-1 in the final.
According to the new schedule of IPL, Qualifier-1 will be held on May 23 at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai and Eliminator will be held on May 24 in Chennai itself. Qualifier-2 will be played at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on May 26 and the final match will be played in Ahmedabad on May 28. Like last time, 10 teams are participating in the league stage of IPL. The matches in the league stage, which began on March 31, will run till May 21 (Sunday). The last 2 matches of the league stage will be held on 21st. The 69th match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad and the 70th match of the league stage will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru from 3:30 pm at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
After the league stage is over, the top-4 teams of the points table will be decided. These 4 teams will participate in the playoff matches to be held 2 days after the league stage.
