Pant caught Bangladesh’s fielding: Yashasvi-Rahul’s diving catch, Shubhaman made a fifty by hitting 2 sixes; Moments of Chennai Test

The third day of the Chennai Test between India and Bangladesh has ended. India gave a target of 515 runs, Bangladesh has scored 158 runs by losing 4 wickets till stumps.

India’s Rishabh Pant was seen setting the field for Bangladesh during his batting. Shubman Gill completed his fifty by hitting 2 sixes, while Pant hit a one-handed six over long off. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul took diving catches.

1. Shubhaman completed his fifty by hitting 2 sixes Shubhaman Gill hit 2 sixes in Mirage’s over. He hit a six on the second ball of the 29th over of the innings. After this, he went ahead on the fifth ball and completed his half-century by hitting a six over long on. 14 runs came in this over.

2. Pant’s one handed six In the 39th over of India’s second innings, Pant hit a one handed six in his own style. On the first ball of the over, Pant came forward against Miraz and hit a six over long-off. Pant was unable to time the ball properly due to missing one hand. However, the ball went far beyond the boundary.

3. Shanto missed Pant’s catch Shanto missed Pant’s catch on the last ball of the 49th over of India’s second innings. Pant played a slog sweep shot on Shakib Al Hasan’s ball. The ball went in the air. Shanto ran from long-on and got under the ball but dropped the catch. Pant was batting on 72 at the time of his life-saving, he went on to score 109 runs. 

4. Rishabh Pant changed Bangladesh’s field. Bangladeshi captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto looked confused while changing the fielding in Nahid Rana’s over. Here Rishabh Pant, standing on strike, asked the Bangladeshi captain to change the fielding. His words were also recorded in the stump mic.

Pointing towards mid-wicket, Pant said, ‘One will come here, brother one here, one fielder here.’ Captain Shanto agreed with Rishabh and placed a fielder at that place. In the 2019 World Cup, Dhoni had also given similar advice to the Bangladesh team. 

5. Yashasvi’s diving catch Bangladesh’s first wicket fell at 62 runs in the second innings. In the 17th over, Zakir Hasan tried to backfoot punch a length ball close to the off stump. The ball hit the outside edge of the bat and went to the left side of the gully. Yashasvi Jaiswal, standing there, dived and caught the catch with one hand. Zakir scored 33 runs. 

6. Rahul took a diving catch, Mushfiqur out KL Rahul took a brilliant diving catch at the mid-on position. Ravi Ashwin bowled the fourth ball of the 34th over at a good length. Mushfiqur Rahim came forward to play a big shot, but the ball went towards mid-on. Rahul, who was present there, dived forward and took a brilliant catch.

7. The game had to be stopped due to bad weather. The game had to be stopped at 4:15 pm due to rain clouds. Mohammad Siraj had bowled 2 balls of his over, then the umpires stopped the game due to poor light. There were 9.4 overs left in the third day’s play, but the game had to be ended early due to poor light.

By the stumps of the third day, Bangladesh lost 4 wickets for 158 runs in 37.2 overs. Captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto returned unbeaten after scoring 51 runs and Shakib Al Hasan returned unbeaten after scoring 5 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 wickets from India, while Jaspreet Bumrah got one success.
