Policy afoot to deal with pre-determined retirements of cricketers

In order to prevent the trend of ‘pre-determined retirements’ the Indian board will soon have a policy in place for its cricketers.

The Indian board secretary Jay Shah said that the policy will be made by office bearers and will be placed in front of the Apex Council after one month.

“We’ll come out with a policy to prevent the trend of pre-determined retirement. The office bearers will make a policy and send it back for approval,” Shah said after the Apex Council meet in Mumbai.
There is a likelihood of BCCI introducing a cooling off period. This means players who retire from all forms of cricket, including the Indian Premier League will have to undergo a cooling off period before being allowed to play in an overseas league. The cooling off period for retired India players will be in force because there have been recent instances where former India players have announced their retirement and immediately joined a T20 League abroad the following week. With so many leagues coming up throughout the season, the former players have been offered handsome pay cheques.
Women’s team support staff

The Indian board is soon going to invite applications for support staff for the Indian women’s team. It is the main reason why the board hasn’t named a coach for the women’s team despite Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) recommending it.

“The CAC has recommended the name of a head coach. They will also interview. They will also interview a batting and bowling coach. We will announce the names of all coaches before the Asian Games,” Shah added.

As far as the media rights deal is concerned Shah informed that the deal will be done by August end.
