Salima is the first Pakistani woman umpire in ICC panel: She said – victory is not just mine but of every Pakistani woman who dreams of it

Salima Imtiaz has become the first female umpire from Pakistan to be included in the ICC umpire panel.

52-year-old Salima will umpire the T20 series between Pakistan and South Africa (Women) to be held in Multan.

Salima told PCB media- This is not just my victory but the victory of every female cricketer and umpire of Pakistan. I hope my success will inspire those women who dream of making their mark in the game.

Representing the country is my dream: Salima Salima said, ‘Ever since Kainat made her international debut, my own dream has been to represent the country at the international level. I have got opportunities with the Asian Cricket Council, but umpiring at the biggest level has always been my goal.

Salima started umpiring in the year 2008. After this, she umpired in the Women’s Asia Cup in 2022 and the Emerging Asia Cup Hong Kong in 2023. Salima has captained 22 T20 matches so far, including 16 on-field umpiring, while 6 matches are as a TV umpire.

Daughter Kainat International Player Salima’s daughter Kainat plays cricket for Pakistan. She made her debut against South Africa in 2010. Kainat has since played 40 matches for Pakistan, including 19 one-day and 21 T20 international matches. Kainat will be a commentator in the T20 series between Pakistan and South Africa.
