A crowd of suspected Shiv Sainiks forcibly entered a private news channels office on Friday and damaged the furniture, computers and TV sets, said reports. The news channels staffers captured five goons, who were later handed over to the police.

Claiming themselves as Shiv Sainiks and shouting slogans in favour of Bal Thackeray, a group of goons entered IBN-Lokmat office in Mumbai and bashed up some journalists inside the office when they protested to their vandalism. The IBN-Lokmat and IBN 7 office is located at Vikhroli, Mumbai.

Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan has condemned the incident and promised strong action against the people, who were indulged in vandalism.

However, the Shiv Sena has denied their involvement in the attack and said that it is a conspiracy to tarnish the image of the party. The Congress, NCP and BJP have condemned the attack on the media.
