Bhopal  –  Madhya Pradesh Governor Rameshwar Thakur and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had a narrow escape on Monday morning when two Indian Air Force vehicles came on to the tarmac just as the state-aircraft carrying them came in to land at the Vijayraje Scindia Air Terminal in Gwalior.

A major tragedy was averted as the alert pilot, spotting the two vehicles aborted the landing and lifted off, say media reports citing officials.

The aircraft remained airborne for about ten minutes before being granted fresh permissions to land.

The incident occurred around 0800 hours, minutes before President Pratibha Patil’s plane was to scheduled to land at the airport.

The two leaders were on their way to Gwalior to welcome President Patil.
