At least two people were injured as twelve coaches of Bangalore-bound Gandhidham Express derailed at Bhiwandi in neighbouring Thane district early on Wednesday.

Central Railways PRO A K Jain was quoted as saying by PTI that 12 coaches of Gandhdham Express were derailed when the train was approaching Bhiwandi in Thane district and two persons were injured in the incident.

He said that immediately another train was sent to the site if accident and the passengers of Gandhidham Express were shifted into it.

He said that the train has left for Bangalore and that relief works are on.

This incident will, however, not affect the local train services in Central and Harbour railway lines, he added.
