Attempt to kill Trump: Attacker was hiding in golf club with AK-47 like rifle, Secret Service fired shots; caught after being surrounded on highway
After 64 days, there has been another attempt to kill former US President Donald Trump. According to CNN, Trump was playing at the International Golf Club in Palm Beach County, Florida. Then the Secret Service agent guarding him saw a suspect hiding in the bushes. He had a rifle like AK-47 and a Go Pro camera. The gun was aimed at the golf course.
The distance between Trump and the attacker was about 300 to 500 meters. The agent fired at the suspect as soon as he saw him, after which he fled in his black SUV. During this, an eyewitness present there took a picture of the suspect’s car. Based on the number plate found in it, the Secret Service chased the car and caught the suspect on the highway 60 kilometers away from the golf course.
On July 13 this year, Trump was fired upon during an election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and a bullet grazed his ear.
Going to the golf club was not in Trump’s plans. The incident happened at 11:30 pm on Sunday night as per Indian time. At that time it was 2 pm in America. The FBI has been given the responsibility of investigating the case. The FBI has called it an attempt to murder Trump. The suspect has been taken into custody and is being questioned. The suspect has been identified as 58-year-old Ryan Roth. The Secret Service has informed that Trump is safe. It is not yet known whether Trump was shot or not.
CNN has quoted sources as saying that Trump’s golf outing was not pre-planned. It was added to his schedule at the end. When the attack attempt took place, Trump was accompanied by Steve Witkoff, a Republican Party donor. Trump returned to Florida this weekend after touring the West Coast. His home here is Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach.
Trump said- I am safe, I will never give up. After this incident, Donald Trump issued a message to his supporters, saying, “I am safe. I heard the sound of bullets around me, but before any rumors spread about the incident, I want to make it clear that I am fine.”
Trump further said, “No one will be able to stop me from campaigning. I will never surrender.” After this incident, Trump went to his home Mar-a-Lago. The White House said that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been informed about this incident. Both have expressed relief that Trump is safe.
According to the New York Times, Trump appeared normal a few hours after the incident. He was also joking with friends. He joked to a friend that he was sorry he couldn’t finish his game.
In another post, Trump thanked the Secret Service for protecting him. He said, “The way he was protected was absolutely fantastic. He is grateful to the US Secret Service, Sheriff Rick Bradshaw and everyone else for this.”

Who is Roth who attacked Trump? The suspect Roth has been arrested several times before. He is originally from North Carolina. He has been arrested before for drug possession, driving without a license and without insurance. Roth moved to Hawaii in 2017. He runs a shed-building company that builds simple housing structures for homeless people.
According to the Daily Mail, when the Republican Party was running for primaries earlier this year, Roth supported Vivek Ramaswami and Nikki Haley, who were contesting against Trump.
After Roth was arrested, his Facebook and X accounts were shut down. He had posted several posts against Trump on social media. Apart from this, he had supported the Democratic Party.
Roth was involved in a fund-raising program for Ukraine. He also visited Ukraine in the year 2022. He also shared things related to this on social media. He had said that he is ready to fight and die for Ukraine.
Roth gave an interview to the New York Times last year. He said that he had tried to recruit Afghan fighters who had fled from the Taliban in Ukraine. He spent several months there.
According to the New York Times, Roth’s social media revealed that he had voted for Trump in 2016. However, he later became disappointed with Trump. He had made several posts related to the Corona conspiracy. The newspaper has written that he was suffering from some mental illness.
Roth’s oldest son, Oran, told CNN that his father was a “loving, hardworking man. He doesn’t know what happened in Florida, but he’s sure the case has been blown out of proportion. They couldn’t do something this crazy.”
Trump’s life was saved due to the alertness of the Secret Service agent. Sheriff Bradshaw told the BBC that the Secret Service agent present at the golf course did a wonderful job. He said, “The Secret Service has an agent who reaches wherever Trump has to go first. Because of this, he was able to see the rifle and take immediate action on it.”
Bradshaw said that Trump is not the President yet, so the security was not as tight as it is for a President. He said that if there were more agents in security, we would not have allowed the attacker to leave the golf course. We would have surrounded him and caught him there.
Trump was attacked on 13 July. On 13 July, Trump was attacked while addressing a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. During this, a bullet grazed Trump’s ear. The attacker was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Crooks. He fired 8 bullets from an AR-15 rifle. Immediately after the firing, Secret Service officers shot down the attacker.
