Madhya Pradesh e-budget saves 1.5 metric tons of paper

BHOPAL: After debate in the assembly on the state budget, tabled on March 1, state finance minister Jagdish Devda said the budget has been made after seeking suggestions from public, industrialists, and chartered accountants.
During his statement in House, the finance minister had heated arguments with Congress MLA and former finance minister Tarun Bhanot. Devda targeted ten years rule of Congress government and termed it a shame pointing to Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh

Devda said the chief minister did regular monitoring of the budget preparation. The minister said the budget has taken care of all classes, be it villagers, poor, farmer, women, laborer, youths. No new tax has been proposed in the budget. A provision of over Rs 56,000 crore has been made for capital expenditure. It will be used for infrastructure development across the state. The finance minister said that people have also seen 15-month rule of the Congress government.

Devda also said it is often pointed out that the government takes loans. He said the government takes loans and details of it are also given, every government takes loans. The finance minister said loan is taken as per the guidelines, and interest is being paid on time and loan would be returned on time. The finance minister said the opposition took loan for paying salary and allowances and not for building roads, lakes, stop dams or any building.

The minister said the e-budget saved money and was also environment friendly. It saved 1.5 metric tons of paper and will save Rs 30 lakh every year. Devda said this budget is 13 per cent bigger than the previous budget and Congress is unable to digest this.
The minister asked Bhanot to find out the amount of loan taken by the Rajasthan government. The Congress government is there and it is also taking loans. Bhanot said we are talking of MP and the finance minister is talking of Rajasthan.

The financé minister said that he had seen the ten years of Congress rule till (2003) when power was not being supplied even for an hour. The statement led to heated arguments between BJP and opposition. The leader of opposition Govind Singh said the finance minister should not discuss the past and just give his statement on budget.

Finance minister said that in the budget we have pointed department-wise allocation, what works will be done, where roads will be made. He talked about provision in the budget made for women, farmers, scheduled caste, and scheduled tribe. He said no section of the state has been left out in this budget. Opposition is disturbed by Ladli Bahna Yojana. It is budget of Amrit Kaal. Tarun Bhanot had a heated argument with Devda. Bhanot said a budget of Rs 3.14 lakh crore was presented and Rs 56,000 crore has been kept for capital expenditure. He said it is very less and the government does not have money for development. Bhanot walked out from the house twice in between the finance minister’s statement saying that he cannot listen to lies. Congress MLA Priyavrat Singh also walked out.
