This time the main contest in the elections is believed to be between BJP and Congress. This is the first direct contest between BJP and Congress in the Haryana assembly elections after the Lok Sabha elections. Whichever party wins the election will use it to create an atmosphere in its favour in the upcoming assembly elections in many states.

Although the contest in Haryana is between BJP and Congress, there are many other parties which have entered the fray with full force. Among them is the Indian National Lok Dal which has an alliance with the BSP. At the same time, there is the Dushyant Chautala-led JJP which has an alliance with the Azad Samaj Party. BJP had formed the government with JJP in the 2019 elections and Dushyant Chautala became the Deputy CM. However, just before the Lok Sabha elections, the paths of BJP and JJP parted ways.

BJP has been in power for 10 years
BJP has been in power in Haryana for the last 10 years. After winning the 2014 elections, BJP made Manohar Lal Khattar the Chief Minister. After this, even in the 2019 elections, after being away from the absolute majority, BJP was successful in forming the government with the support of JJP. Just before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP has made Manohar Lal Khattar a minister at the Center by playing a big bet by fielding him in the parliamentary elections. At the same time, the command of Haryana is currently on the shoulders of Naib Singh Saini.
