Delivery boy crushed to death by Audi in Pune: Car driver fled; accused identified through CCTV, arrested

A new case of hit and run has come to light in Pune, Maharashtra. An Audi car hit a food delivery boy near Tadigutta in Mundhwa area. Then the driver ran away after crushing him with the car.

The injured bike rider was admitted to the hospital, where he died. The deceased was identified as Rauf Akbar Sheikh. Police said, the car rider had earlier hit a scooter, in which 3 were injured.

Based on CCTV footage, the police have caught the accused. He was identified as 34-year-old Ayush Tayal. He is a senior officer in a private company. The police arrested him from his house.

The accused did not stop the car even after hitting According to Pune Police, the incident happened on Thursday (10 October) late night around 1.35 am. The accused, who was riding an Audi car outside the Google office in Mundhwa area, first hit a scooter. Then he ran the car over the food delivery boy’s bike. Initial information revealed that the car driver was drunk.

The accused did not stop the car even after hitting the bike rider. He crushed the injured person under the car and sped away. The police first identified the car from the CCTV cameras installed nearby. Then traced its owner. The accused was arrested from his house in Hadapsar area.

The collision was so strong that the scooter overturned and both the husband and wife fell on the bonnet of the car. The husband immediately jumped off the bonnet in an attempt to save himself, but the wife could not get up. After the accident, Mihir first called his father. He was the one who told him to run away. After this, Mihir left the BMW car and the driver near Kala Nagar in Bandra. To avoid getting caught, he removed the number plate of the car.
