Madhya Pradesh leaves Maharashtra behind in milk production, to be ahead of Punjab and Gujarat in next 2 years

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh has left Maharashtra behind in milk production. Milk production in the state will increase byupto 10 percent in next 5 years. Besides, Madhya Pradesh will be ahead of Punjab and Gujarat in milk production in next 2 years. This was informed during review of 100-day action plan of Animal Husbandry Department here today. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan directed to establish minimum 500 new daiey societies and establish mobile veterinary treatment units during these 100 days. He said that existing veterinary dispensaries should be improved and upgraded as per requirement.

Discussing activities of Madhya Pradesh Dairy Federation, Shri Chouhan directed to chalk out a strategy for marketing of Sanchi brand products at national level and making their presence felt at international level. He said that the Sanchi brand products need to be marketed on a large scale.

It was informed at the meeting that 138 veterinary dispensaries will be upgraded and 80 new ones established during next 100 days. The Chief Minister directed to chalk out an action plan regarding management and care of stray animals so that a policy-related decision can be taken in this respect. It was informed that veterinary treatment facilitation centres will be opened in over 4 thousand villages during 100 days.

Horticulture: During discussions on 100-day action plan of Horticulture Department, Shri Chouhan said that there is immense potential of employment generation and increase in farmers’ additional income in horticulture sector. This sector is deeply connected with food processing. He said that enlisting experts’ services should also be considered for ensuring good results in this sector. Stressing the need for even more elaborate 100-day action plan for Horticulture Department, the Chief Minister directed to improve it further.

Similarly, reviewing 100-day action plan of Village Industry Department, Shri Chouhan said that mindset of working in traditional manner needs to be shed. He directed not to remain confined to sericulture alone, but also promote various kinds of small industries. Lakhs of people get employment in these industries. More efforts are needed for laying network of cottage industries. Special efforts will have to be made to associate small entrepreneurs with this sector. Experts’ services can also be sought.

Discussing 100-day action plan of Fisheries Development Department, the Chief Minister directed to chalk out a strategy for maximum use of major reservoirs for fisheries by imparting training to fishermen. He was informed that a target has been set to increase fish production upto one lakh 45 thousand MT during 100 days.

Drive to repair handpumps: It was informed about 100-day action plan of Public Health Engineering Department that a one-month special campaign will be launched for repairing handpumps from January 15. A pilot project will be introduced for complaint redressal through SMS. E-Measurement pilot project will also be introduced. Piped water schemes will be started in habitats with over 1000 population. Of these, piped water schemes will be set up in 300 villages in the next 100 days. Training will be imparted to 20 thousand Janpad Panchayat level office-bearers. Fisheries Development and Horticulture Minister Sushri Kusum Mahdele, Additional Chief Secretary Shri P.K. Dash and senior officers of the Public Health and Animal Husbandry departments were present on the occasion.
