Alwar: A man was gunned down and another was left injured in an attack by cow vigilantes in Fahari village near Govindgarh in Alwar district of Rajasthan. The incident comes exactly eight months after a dairy farmer from Nuh district of Haryana, Pehlu Khan, was lynched in Alwar by a group of 200 cow vigilantes.
One of the two Muslim men, identified as Ummar Khan, has died while the other, Tahir, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Haryana. The incident took place on Saturday night when the two men were taking the cow in a pick-up truck from Alwar to Ghatmika village in Bharatpur district. Ummar’s family has refused to accept the body until strict action is taken against the culprits.
The relatives of Ummar and Tahir have alleged that the crime was planned. They have also accused the policemen of not taking any action even when the officials were present at the spot when the crime happened. They have demanded immediate arrest of the accused, but no FIR in the case has been registered so far.
The deceased’s body has been kept in the mortuary at Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital in Alwar. As the news of the incident spread, people of the Meo community reached the hospital and identified Ummar. The Meo community alleged that right-wing organisations in collusion with the police thrashed the two Muslim men and fired at them.
The community members have demanded a high-level probe into the alleged incident while a report is yet to be registered.
Earlier in April, 55-year-old Pehlu Khan was brutally beaten by a group of 200 cow vigilantes in Alwar district of Rajasthan. He was transporting cattle in a pickup van along with a group of 15 Muslim men. Khan succumbed to his injuries two days after the attack. The police in September clear six accused in the case of all charges.
