Pune: An eight-year-old girl was gangraped by one 19-year-old boy and five juveniles in Pune, said media reports. The incident came to light when the girl told her mother that she was suffering from pain in her lower abdomen after which the parents decided to take her to a nearby hospital. After conducting a medical examination, the doctor informed the girl’s father that she was raped.
Later, when the girl was asked about it she took name of six boys. The doctor then instructed the parents to take the matter to the nearest police station.
The parents went to Kondhwa police station to get an FIR filed. A female cop wrote the report after which six boys, between the age of 12 and 19, were arrested.
The accused stayed in the same locality and attended the same school as the victim. The girl revealed that the attackers would give her chocolate and take her to the terrace of the building she lives in. There, they would take turns to rape her. According to the police, the accused were raping the eight-year-old since August 2017.
The six have been booked under IPC Section 376 (rape) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police said.
While the minor boys have been sent to juvenile home, the 19-year-old will be produced in the court on Friday.
