Bhopal: Digvijaya chalks out poll strategy, begins groundwork
Former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, who is going to contest from Bhopal seat, has begun to prepare election strategy. Digvijaya, who reached to the city on Tuesday, late night, would now stay in the state capital till elections. Singh, before coming to Bhopal, went to Jabalpur to seek blessings from Jain saint Vidhyasagar Maharaj. Jain community has a strong presence in Bhopal. Singh also sought blessings from Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati.
Singh’s son and minister for urban administration, Jaivardhan Singh would be in commanding position in the elections. Former MP Rameshwar Neekhra and Mahesh Joshi will look after management. Ministers PC Sharma and Arif Aqueel will take care of campaigning. Singh would keep former Union minister Suresh Pachauri with him during election campaigning. As per election strategy, a senior leader would be deputed on each assembly seat.
The leaders close to Singh including Vibha Patel, Nasir Islam and Jodharam Gurjar would be given responsibility of other areas. Amongst other leaders from the state capital, MLA Arif Masood, Sunil Sood, Mahendra Singh Chouhan, former MP Surendra Singh Thakur and Ramesh Saxena, who quit BJP to join Congress, will be assign the responsibility of campaigning.
A senior leader on all eight assembly constituencies under Bhopal Lok Sabha seat will look after all the arrangements. Jaivardhan would work on maintaining coordination between leaders belonging to different camps.
The polling for Bhopal seat would be held on May 12. Singh would start campaigning prior to his filling of nomination. Preparations are on to conduct meeting with all associations to ensure support to Singh. Meetings have begun to make position of the party on all booths strong.
Will contest with full preparation: Laxman Singh
MLA Laxman Singh, who is younger brother of Digvijay Singh, has also begun to prepare for the election of his brother. Singh, in a conversation with Free Press, said Digvijay Singh contesting elections from Bhopal may be surprise for others but he knew it in advance. Singh said he has made all preparations and there is no problem. According to Singh, Congress would surely win in elections.
He said Congress’ prospects on seats near to Bhopal would also strengthen. Singh added that other leaders should also emulate and contest elections from tough seats. He said Jyotiraditya Scindia may win from Gwalior and Indore seats. Singh said BJP had lead of 63,000 votes from Bhopal in assembly polls which would be covered by the Congress.
Shivraj should take Sanyaas if he loses: Aqueel
Minister Arif Aqueel, after the name of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan coming in the fray as BJP candidate from Bhopal seat, said Chouhan should take ‘Sanyaas’ if he loses. Aqueel said Chouhan should emulate Digvijay, who after losing elections in 2003 did not take any post for ten years. Aqueel in a meeting with party workers at Sehore, appealed to them to work for Singh with full energy.
