Cong candidates releasing separate manifesto is an irony: Usendi

BJP state president Vikram Usendi said the irony of the Congress in Chhattisgarh was that its candidates were now issuing a separate election manifesto.

“It is very clear that the Congress leaders in state have totally dismissed their Central election manifesto,” he said.

On Monday, Congress candidate for Raipur parliamentary constituency Pramod Dubey released a separate election manifesto highlighting local issues and promises.

Usendi claimed that leaders of Congress have now understood that the party’s election manifesto was meant to protect the anti-national forces.

The promise to scrap sedition laws, reducing number of army personnel in Kashmir and others have led to erosion of the whatever existing mass following the party had.

Against this backdrop, the Congress candidate was going with separate election manifesto before the electors, the BJP leader said.

Usendi commented that the Congress was now fighting for its own existence.

On the opposition leaders’ charges on EVM, Usendi said, “Whenever the opposition faces defeat, it blames the EVMs. If the Congress and other opposition parties lack faith in the EVM, then they should step down in states where they came to power getting elected through EVMs.”

If they were critical of the EVM, then they should call for dissolution of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan state assemblies, as the machine had given verdict there in favour of the Congress.
