Jaish-e-Mohammed Chief Masood Azhar Designated Global Terrorist

In what can be seen as a massive diplomatic victory for india, terrorist Masood Azhar has been listed as a global terrorist by the UN Security Council
China today lifted its hold on the listing of Jaish-e-Mohammad cheif, Masood Azhar, as a global terrorist by the United Nations.
China had placed a “technical hold” on a proposal initiated by the U.S., the U.K, and France after the Pulwama attack in February thie year.
China’s decision can largely be seen as an outcome of international pressure to blacklist the Pakistan-based terror organisation’s head. The U.S., supported by France and the U.K., moved a draft resolution directly in the U.N. Security Council to blacklist the Pakistan-based terror organisation’s head.
In 2009, India had moved a proposal by itself to designate Azhar a terrorist. Again, in 2016 India moved the proposal with the P3 – The United States, The United Kingdom and France – in The U.N.’s 1267 Sanctions Committee to ban Azhar, also the mastermind of the attack on the air base in Pathankot in January 2016.
