Raman has no right to claim corruption in Bofors: Cong
Congress on Tuesday took serious exception to former chief minister Raman Singh’s remark on Bofors defence deal, claiming the BJP national vice president had no right to say anything on corruption as he and his family members were neck deep in corruption.
In a statement state general secretary and chairman communication wing of the PCC Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said when the newly formed Congress government in the state set up committees to probe into corruption of the erstwhile BJP government it had irritated the saffron party which was calling it ‘politics of vengeance’.
Raman and his wife have been named in infamous Nagrik Aapurti Nigam’s PDS scam worth Rs 36000 crore and name of their son Abhishek is surfaced in Panama Papers. Son-in Law of Raman is at present on bail, who is an accused in the DKS super specialty hospital scam, Trivedi alleged.
Trivedi further said only because of high level corruption in the previous BJP government, the people of Chhattisgarh rooted it out in the recently concluded assembly polls.
Raman Singh had earlier defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comment that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s life had ended as “Bhrashtachari (corrupt) number one”.
Incidentally, Delhi High Court had acquitted the late Prime Minister in the Bofors case and the Modi government’s attempt to reopen the chapter didn’t receive a favourable response either from the Supreme Court, which refused to entertain its plea.
