Speculation rife over new Pradesh Congress Committee chief
BHOPAL: Speculations are rife in the Congress party over the new Pradesh Congress Committee president. The party may make an announcement in this regard at the Congress Parliamentary Board meeting scheduled on Saturday. Presently Kamal Nath is holding the two posts: of MP PCC president and of chief minister. Nath was appointed by the AICC national president on April 26,2018, he had successfully formed the government in the state, by defeating BJP which had ruled the state for three consecutibe terms.
After taking charge as a CM of the new government Nath had expressed that he need more time in completing the administrative and government work. This according to sources is a signal that he is planning to leave the PCC president post. Recently the Congress had received a big drubbing in the Lok Sabha elections and the morale of the party is low.
The Congress state media vice president Bhupendra Gupta declared, “CM Nath is a versatile leader and he does not face any burden in upholding the post of PCC chief, he is capable of handling both the responsibilities properly.” “The AICC national president will decide on the matter,” he added. The Congress spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi informed “AICC general secretary Jyotiraditya Scindia is said to be the front runner for post of president of MP PCC.”
Sources said Scindia was most likely to take over the rein of Congress in MP to revive the sagging morale of party cadre caused by the debacle of Congress in LS in the state. Many of the MLAs and at least two senior ministers of Kamal Nath cabinet, Jitu Patwari and Imarti Devi have come out openly asking to name Scindia as PCC chief.
