After 46 years of marriage, Amitabh Bachchan reveals how he actually ended up getting married to Jaya Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have been together for 46 years now and in all these years they have proved that if you have a real connection, everything falls in place. When the pair met for the first time, Jaya was already an established actress, whereas Amitabh was struggling to find his way in Bollywood. However, nothing really mattered to the pair and they eventually fell for each other and got married.
Despite, dating in a conventional way, they tied the knot in quite an unconventional manner. The reason for this was recently revealed by the Shahenshah of Bollywood in his blog. Amitabh wrote, “I lived on the 7th Road of this society .. on a rented house .. marriage had been decided among us .. nothing to be exaggerated or celebrated with any aplomb .. just the two families and .. done .. off to London, my first trip ever and hers too .. Zanjeer a success and a promise that if it did well we would all – a gang of our friends – would go on a holiday to London !”
The actor wanted to take his friends and Jaya to London to celebrate Zanjeer’s success. It was then that his dad poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan asked him who all are going. He then said that Jaya is going on the trip and both Jaya and Amitabh will be alone. For Harivansh Rai Bachchan it was important that his son gets married before going on a trip.
So it was decided that they will be married the next day and catch the flight at night. Their families and the Pandit was informed and the next day Amitabh was dressed up for the wedding. As the substitute for the horse, the actor’s driver drove him to the wedding and they tied the knot in a rather interesting ceremony.
This just goes on to show that when it is right, even the simplest wedding ceremony can lead to the most special marriage.
