Super 30 box office collection Day 8: Hrithik Roshan’s film ignores The Lion King’s roar, total Rs 80.36 crore

Super 30, headlined by Hrithik Roshan, is having a solid run at the box office. On its second Friday, the biographical drama added Rs 4.51 crore more to its kitty. Its total collection, after an eight-day run in cinemas, stands at Rs 80.36 crore, which is fantastic by all means.

What’s noteworthy is that Super 30, based on the life of Patna-based mathematician and educationist Anand Kumar, remained almost unaffected by the new release, Hollywood flick The Lion King, that made Rs 11.06 crore on its opening day.

Movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh, in a Saturday tweet, said that the film will grow substantially on Day 9 and Day 10, to thereby ensure a healthy second-weekend total. Adarsh added that the film will “comfortably” enter the Rs 100 crore-club in the second week itself.

His post read, “#Super30 is super-strong on [second] Fri… Biz should witness significant growth on [second] Sat and Sun… Will comfortably cross ₹ 100 cr mark in Week 2… [Week 2] Fri 4.51 cr. Total: ₹ 80.36 cr. India biz.”

Super 30 is directed by Vikas Bahl, who, in the past, has been in the director’s chair for films such as Chillar Party (2011) and Shaandaar (2015). He is best known, however, for 2014’s Queen, the starred Kangana Ranaut in the lead role.

Super 30 is named after a prestigious programme run by Kumar, under which meritorious students from economically-weaker sections of the society are trained for the highly competitive IIT-JEE exam. From their boarding to their food, everything is taken care of by Kumar and his family. Each batch consists of 30 students and hence, the name Super 30.The film has received mixed critical reception. Critics found it overly dramatic in certain portions. Many have also expressed disapproval of Hrithik’s portrayal of Kumar.
