Jogi welcomes move to scrap special status to J&K
Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) on Monday welcomed the Centre’s decision to scrap the special status to Jammu and Kashmir and removal of section 35A.
Terming the bill presented by Union home minister Amit Shah in Parliament as historic, JCCJ founder and former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi said that his party wholeheartedly welcomes the decision.
“Due to special status given to Jammu and Kashmir, a large number of Tribal, Gujjar and backward category people living in that state were not able to draw the benefits of reservation system, which now they will easily get,” Ajit Jogi said while adding it was personally a matter of joy for him.
Jogi opined that in the next state assembly session, legislators in Chhattisgarh should pass a motion of thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and the central government.
“Scrapping of Section 370 , which was a temporary provision brought 72 years ago will be a great help in finding permanent solution to Kashmir problem,” Jogi told reporters.
