A 15-year-old girl was fatally injured after she slipped and fell off the balcony of her eighth-floor house in a residential society near Delhi on Thursday, the police said.
The victim was identified as Diksha, a Class 11 student at a Ghaziabad school. The police said that she was living with her family in Cherry Country Society under Bisrakh police station limits in Greater Noida.
After the fall, the police said, Diksha was rushed to a nearby hospital but died from her injuries. The body has been sent for postmortem, they added.
Senior officer Rajeev Kumar said the incident happened in the evening and they have launched a probe into the case.
Residents of Cherry County Society were in a state of shock. Shafali, an eyewitness who lives in the society, said the teenager fell at around half past five in the evening. People in the vicinity immediately rushed her to the hospital, she said.
