RBI to issue new Rs 200, Rs 500 notes soon! Check details
New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs 200 denomination banknotes in the new Mahatma Gandhi Series bearing the signature of RBI governor Shaktikanta Das. The design of these notes is similar in all respects to Rs 200 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (new) series. All banknotes in the denomination of Rs 200 issued by RBI in the past will continue to be legal tender.
The central bank is also going to issue Rs 500 denomination banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series bearing the signature of Shaktikanta Das. The size of the new Rs 500 note is 66 mm x 150 mm. The colour of the note is stone grey and the predominant new theme is Indian heritage site – Red Fort.
Features of Rs 200, Rs 500 New MG series note
1. See-through register with denominational numeral 200, 500.
2. Latent image with denominational numeral 200, 500.
3. Denominational numeral २००, ५०० in Devanagari.
4. Portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre.
5. Micro letters ‘RBI’, ‘भारत’, ‘India’ and ‘200’ or ‘500’.
6. Windowed security thread with inscriptions ‘भारत’ and RBI with colour shift. Colour of the thread changes from green to blue when the note is tilted.
7. Guarantee Clause, Governor’s signature with Promise Clause and RBI emblem towards right of Mahatma Gandhi portrait.
8. Denominational numeral with Rupee Symbol, 200, 500 in colour changing ink (green to blue) on the bottom right.
9. Ashoka Pillar emblem on the right.
10. Mahatma Gandhi portrait and electrotype (200), (500) watermarks.
11. Number panel with numerals growing from small to big on the top left side and bottom right side.
12. For visually impaired, Intaglio or raised printing of Mahatma Gandhi portrait, Ashoka Pillar emblem, raised Identification mark H with micro-text 200, 500, four angular bleed lines with two circles in between the lines both on the right and left sides.
On the back side of the note:
1. Year of printing of the note on left.
2. Swachh Bharat logo with the slogan
3. Language panel towards the centre.
4. Red Fort on Rs 500 note, Motif of Sanchi Stupa on Rs 200 note- an image of Indian heritage site with Indian flag.
