Want to know daily petrol, diesel prices in your city? Here are 3 ways to check online
New Delhi: Petrol and diesel prices change daily across the country. It changes at 6 am every day which is based on the change in cost globally on the previous day. It is to be noted that retail prices of fuel in the national capital, Delhi are the cheapest among all metros and most state capitals owing to lower taxes.
Today (April 20) petrol is being sold for Rs 73 a litre in Delhi, Rs 75.77 a litre in Chennai, Rs 75.02 per litre in Kolkata and Rs 78.57 per litre in Mumbai. While diesel costs Rs 66.39 per litre in Delhi, Rs 70.10 a lite in Chennai, Rs 68.13 a litre in Kolkata and Rs 69.49 per litre in Mumbai.
State-run Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) account for more than 90 per cent of refuelling stations in India. The fuel price is dependent on the global crude oil prices, rupee to US dollar exchange rate, global cues, fuel demand, etc. Fuel price includes excise duty, value-added tax (VAT) and dealer commission. VAT varies from state to state.
Here are 3 ways to check fuel prices online-
1. Mobile Apps- Fuel@IOC is an Indian Oil’s mobile app to check the fuel prices daily in your city. All you need to do is to create an account on this app and access features. There is a ‘Locate Us’ tab in the app which leads users to a map. This helps to locate the nearest Indian Oil petrol pump. One can track prices and avail of many other interactive features.
Bharat Petroleum’s mobile app is ‘SmartDrive’. It helps to plan a trip, find distance and locate fuel stations. It is customised to collect customer’s and vehicle details in order to them regular reminders for Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUC), insurance and servicing of the vehicle.
HPCL’s mobile app is ‘My HPCL’. Besides price check and dealer locator tools, it offers services like mileage calculator, oil change, PUC, Insurance, service reminders and tyre pressure chart.
2. By sending SMS- To get the indicative prices of petrol and diesel in your city or town for the day, you can SMS “RSPDealer Code of petrol pump” to 92249 92249.
For example, SMS “RSP 102072” to 92249 92249 for petrol and diesel prices in Delhi. You can check the dealer codes of 39 locations, including the four metros and NCR from IOCL website.
For Bharat Petroleum, consumers can send the SMS (in the same pattern) to 9223112222.
The consumers who are purchasing petrol and diesel from Hindustan Petroleum’s fuel stations can send SMS to 9222201122. It should be in HPPRICE DEALER CODE pattern. All petrol pump dealers have been asked to display their numbers prominently for users’ convenience.
3. Website- Indian Oil has set up a tool on its website to access the ‘Pump Locator’ facility. Users can locate their nearest IndianOil petrol pump and view the prices of petrol and diesel. Using this, they can also check the various facilities and services offered at these petrol pumps. Likewise, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum have the ‘Pump Locator’ facility on their websites.
