Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) was not only a big banner film but it also came with big names like Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan attached to it. While it would be a daunting task for any other newcomer to stand out in such a film, Anushka Sharma proved everyone wrong by playing the vivacious Taani with ease. Even in her emotional scenes, she breathed life into the character, along with pulling off the many dance numbers. The film surely gave her a great start and she even bagged a three-film contract with YRF right after the release of the film.

Despite her big debut, Anushka Sharma really made us sit up and take notice of her in Band Baaja Baaraat (2010). Paired opposite then debutant Ranveer Singh, Anushka played the firecracker Shruti Kakkar, a girl with big dreams and even bigger guts to see them through. A Dilli girl to the hilt in her potrayal, she balanced the spunk, the elaborate song sequences and the weighty conflict scenes to perfection.

As one of the youngest and few female producers, she pulled all the stops with NH10 and the film did well at the box office, along with winning her critical acclaim for her performance in the lead role.

In recent times, Anushka was surrounded by controversy regarding her enhanced lips. While she received much censure, the actress cleared the air on Twitter, stating that it was for her film, Bombay Velvet. In order to essay the character of cabaret singer Rosie Noronha, Anushka chose to use enhancement tools to lend authenticity to her look. She not only showed her dedication to her part but also won hearts because of her unapologetic stance on the matter.
