Aishwarya Rai Bachchan CONFIRMS signing her next film with Mani Ratnam

And the cat is finally out of the bag! While until last few weeks there were only strong speculations about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan signing a Mani Ratnam film. The actress has officially confirmed that the Mani Ratnam film is indeed happening and that she’s already on board for the same. Aishwarya said this in interaction with Anupama Chopra, after walking the red carpet at the Cannes 2019.

“What I will commit to is because even though Mani (Ratnam) hasn’t formally announced it himself but the word is out. So yes, I will commit to the fact that yes, I am working with him. I won’t say I agreed…I will always be more than thrilled, excited, overwhelmed, humbled and just happy to work with my guru, Mani so ya, that is happening”, said Aishwarya hoping that all materialises well.

For those unaware, Aishwarya and Mani Ratnam’s bonding goes back a long way ever since her debut with Iruvar (1997), so you can only imagine how special this film is going to be for both of them. A source close to Mid Day had spilled the beans on the plot of this yet-to-be titled film stating, “The story takes place in the 10th century before Raja Chola became a king. Aishwarya will be seen as Nandini, the wife of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, who served as the chancellor and treasurer of the Chola kingdom. Her character is written as a mysterious, power-hungry woman who manipulates her husband to plan the downfall of the Chola empire because she has been wronged by them.”

Buzz is that Mohan Babu will be seen playing Aishwarya’s husband in this film although an official confirmation on the same is yet to be made. Nevertheless, what are your thoughts about Aishwarya reuniting with Mani Ratnam?
