Twenty-three people from Madhya Pradesh, who are stranded due to floods in Nepal, on Tuesday sought help from the central and state governments to bring them home.
The group of stranded people was in the Himalayan nation on a pilgrimage to the Pashupatinath temple.
The pilgrims, including seven from Dindori, one from Mandla, six from Jabalpur, and eight from Rewa, reached out to the state and central governments. The group members claimed that Indian embassy officials were not providing them the assistance required to return home safely.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has reassured the pilgrims of all possible help.
“I have received information about the 23 travellers from Madhya Pradesh stranded due to landslides in Nepal. The Madhya Pradesh government, with the central government’s help, has contacted the Indian embassy in Kathmandu to arrange for their safe extraction and transport back to their homes. I assure you not to worry; proper arrangements are being made for your safe return,” he added.
One pilgrim said that incessant rains washed away a key road in the Kabhre district, leaving them stranded. The Chief Minister of Bagmati in Nepal arranged for a helicopter to take them to Dhouli Khel Hospital, after which they were brought to Kathmandu.
