New Delhi: Gautam Gambhir has pledged to support education of Zohra, daughter of Abdul Rashid, an assistant sub-inspector of Jammu & Kashmir police, who was killed by Kashmiri
militants in Anantnag district last month.
The dashing left-hander has pledged to support the education of Zohra “for the life time”. He took to Twitter to express his feelings and share his commitment for the cause, said a media
report.
“Zohra, I can’t put you to sleep with a lullaby but I’ll help you to wake up to live ur dreams. I Will support your education for lifetime#daughterofIndia,” Gambhir tweeted.
An image of Zohra crying inconsolably over her father’s coffin have moved the cricketer. “Zohra, please don’t let those tears fall as I doubt even Mother Earth can take the weight of your
pain. Salutes to your martyred dad ASI, Abdul Rashid,” Gambhir has tweeted.
ASI Abul Rashid was killed on August 28 when militants fired at him at Mehandi Kadal in Anantnag district.
Gambhir in the past has stood for CRPF jawans killed in Sukma attack. He is also running a community kitchen in Delhi, which feeds up to 800 people everyday.
