Bhopal Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday inaugurated the new headquarters of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation, saying the facility would strengthen transparent governance and improve civic service delivery in the state capital.
Named ‘Atal Bhavan’, the new headquarters has been developed as an integrated civic centre where residents can access multiple municipal services under one roof.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister said the building reflected the vision of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who considered public service the foundation of governance.
Green and energy-efficient infrastructure
Built on a green building concept, the headquarters focuses on energy efficiency, natural lighting and environmental sustainability.
The Chief Minister said the structure has been designed to maximise sunlight and ventilation in line with traditional Indian architectural principles. He added that the building would largely meet its own energy requirements.
As part of the programme, the Chief Minister also remotely inaugurated a 10.5 MW solar power project developed in Deori village of Neemuch under the PPP model at a cost of nearly Rs 14 crore.
Officials said electricity for the civic headquarters would be supplied through open access from the Neemuch solar plant. A separate solar power facility is also being developed in the parking area of the building.
Bhopal being developed as metropolitan hub
The Chief Minister said the state government was working to develop Bhopal as a metropolitan city by improving connectivity with nearby districts, including Raisen, Sehore, Vidisha and Rajgarh.
He said the region would witness rapid urban expansion and infrastructure growth in the coming years.
All civic departments under one roof
Speaking at the event, Chetanya Kashyap said all departments related to the municipal corporation would function from the same building, improving coordination and public services.
Built at a cost of Rs 73 crore, the headquarters has been developed across eight floors, including the ground floor, with a built-up area of nearly two lakh square feet.
Malti Rai said the new headquarters has been equipped with modern infrastructure and citizen-centric facilities.
Ministers Krishna Gaur and Pratima Bagri, along with public representatives and senior officials, were present during the inauguration ceremony.
