BHOPAL, MAY 5: In a step to deepen administrative decentralisation and improve access to grievance redressal, Bhopal Collector Priyank Mishra on Tuesday launched tehsil-level public hearings, saying the exercise will be held regularly to ensure timely and transparent resolution of citizens’ complaints.
The first public hearing was organised at the Janpad Panchayat office in Berasia, drawing 348 applications from residents across the tehsil. The administration said the move is intended to bring governance closer to citizens, particularly those in remote areas who often face difficulties in approaching district headquarters.
Describing the initiative as a shift towards more responsive administration, Mr Mishra said such hearings would continue at the tehsil level to expedite disposal of grievances. He interacted with applicants individually, heard their concerns and directed officials from the concerned departments to act on priority. He also assured applicants that their cases would be addressed within a defined timeframe.
Berasia MLA Vishnu Khatri, who attended the session, welcomed the initiative, stating that it would strengthen coordination between the administration and the public while ensuring quicker resolution of issues.
Officials said the exercise is designed to streamline service delivery by reducing delays and improving coordination among departments at the grassroots level. By enabling residents to register complaints closer to their place of residence, the administration expects to enhance both efficiency and accountability in grievance handling.
Senior officials, including District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ila Tiwari, Sub-Divisional Officer Ashutosh Sharma, Janpad Panchayat President Lata Kuber Singh Gurjar and Vice-President Kinta Jaswant Singh Gurjar, were present.
The district administration plans to replicate the model across other tehsils, with periodic reviews to monitor disposal rates and improve response timelines.
